Program notes:

Mankind’s curiosity has led us to discover many unknowns and mysteries of the world, like the space and South Pole. Similarly, my curiosity about the many possibilities of Chinese instruments has led me to experiment with unconventional sounds with them, and as a result, this piece is created. In Unknown Territories, I hope to explore the unknown timbral possibilities of erhu by the use integrating contemporary techniques, such as scratch tone and harmonic trill, and live electronics, especially spectral processing, in a more contemporary musical language.
